1049. A precative is of course allowed

A precative is of course allowed by the grammarians to be made for the causative conjugation: in the middle, from the causative stem with the auxiliary i substituted for its final a; in the active, from the form of the root as strengthened in the causative stem, but without the causative sign: thus,

धार्यासम् dhāryāsam etc.धारयिषीय dhārayiṣīya etc.

This formation is to be regarded as purely fictitious.
