By the suffix çás are made, especially from numeral or quantitative stems, many adverbs of quantity or measure or manner, generally used distributively. a. Examples are: ekaçás one by one, çataçás by hundreds, ṛtuçás season by season, pacchas foot by foot, akṣaraçás syllable by syllable, gaṇaçás in crowds, stambaçás by bunches, paruççás limb by limb, tāvacchás in such and such number or quantity: and, in a more general way, sarvaçás wholly, mukhyaças principally, kṛchraças stingily,manmaçás as minded. |
